Lanson Place Parliament Gardens “ Letters to Country”

40 metre suspended sculpture done in collaboration with Corey Thomas

"The site-specific artwork is deeply rooted in Jarra's cultural connection to Eastern Kulin Nation mark-making and Corey’s expertise in sculptural forms. The piece draws inspiration from the Melaleuca paperbark tree, with slumped acrylic sheets intricately carved with visual language influenced by Boonwurrung and Kulin traditional markings. The layers peel away like pages of a manuscript, unfurling and gliding across the hotel lobby, echoing the rhythmic gesture of wind. This dynamic piece seamlessly weaves together communication, form, and space, serving as a reflected mirage that dances with light.”

Acknowledgements to our assistant Amina Briggs and Mikhail Rodrick, Ancher architecture office for their work on the project.
